Kiki is passionate about quilting

When you do what you love, you never work

When Kiki retired from the nonwoven industry in 2008, she never imagined she would be running a successful quilting and embroidering business just eight years later.

Within a couple years of retiring, Kiki had too much time on her hands. So she went down to the local quilting store and purchased her first embroidery machine. When she began filling her free time with quilting, her family and friends had no idea a seed had been planted, or that it would grow so quickly

In 2016, Kiki opened a little store where she and her girlfriends, as well as her fans, could have fun working on their quilting projects together. Kiki had convinced them all of the great need for a new, forward-thinking quilting store in Fresno.

When you find a need, fill it with possibilities

Like many towns across America, employment had been and still was on the downturn when Kiki’s Quilt Shack opened. Today, cities that once upon a time thrived with local enterprise are left with abandoned buildings and crumbling infrastructure. Fresno is no different. Many local residents have been forced to travel long distances to work. Others have been compelled to leave the area altogether to find employment. Before Kiki’s Quilt Shack came to town, many folks did the same to find a quality quilting shop. Kiki and her friends began commuting two hours round trip to visit a top-notch, progressive quilting store with a knowledgeable staff. Kiki began to dream. What if quilters had a hometown quilting shop worthy of supporting their needs?

When you have a big heart, it can’t help but grow

In 2016, Kiki’s husband bought a sewing machine store in Fresno just two minutes away from home. Together they transformed it into Kiki’s Quilt Shack, a progressive, forward-thinking action center for quilters. The family became convinced that a community of over 500,000 people would produce enough local interest to employ Kiki’s talented team of friends, family and a few fans. Even though not everyone who works for Kiki is related, she sure goes the extra mile to make her entire team feel like her own family.

The impetus behind Kiki’s Quilt Shack is to build a super, customer-friendly, well-supported quilting center. What started off as a local family business has the potential to grow and serve the entire Central San Joaquin Valley!
